Research Assistant I Lab

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) at Harvard University is seeking a Full-time Research Assistant (RA) for an exciting, large-scale project led by Professor Randy Buckner. The FAS is the historic heart of Harvard University, housing Harvard College and numerous Ph.D. programs, and supports a diverse community of scholars across various disciplines.

About the Role

The RA will be responsible for data acquisition using behavioral and neuroimaging techniques (MRI), data entry, data checking, and quality control procedures. Other duties include subject recruitment and enrollment through community outreach and advertising, interfacing with collaborating lab groups, maintaining participant databases, scoring and processing data, and assisting with administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Data acquisition using behavioral and neuroimaging techniques (MRI)
• Data entry, data checking, and quality control procedures
• Subject recruitment and enrollment through community outreach and advertising
• Serving as an interface among several collaborating lab groups
• Maintaining participant databases
• Serving as a scorer and processor of data
• Aiding with administrative tasks

Qualifications

• Background in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field with previous research experience required
• B.A., B.S. preferred
• Proficiency with basic computing packages such as MS Word and Excel
• Familiarity with Linux, MATLAB, SPM, FSL, fMRI
• Strong interpersonal skills, high level of organization, and careful attention to detail
• High degree of motivation and self-sufficiency

Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week

Other Information: This is a one-year term position with renewal dependent upon continuation of funding. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain experience with cognitive neuroscience research including working with clinical populations in preparation for a graduate career. This position will be fully on site in Cambridge, MA and will require some flexibility in work hours to accommodate occasional evening and/or weekend MRI scan slots.
