About the role
The Kruse lab in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School seeks a Research Assistant to support research on novel antibiotic targets. The position involves performing routine experiments, assisting with complex experiments, record keeping, and lab operations.
Responsibilities
- Performing routine experiments (e.g., bacterial cell culture and harvesting).
- Assisting with complex experiments led by postdoctoral fellows or other lab members (e.g., a membrane protein purification).
- Record keeping and basic office work.
- Lab operations support (inventory, ordering, etc.).
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in biochemistry, cell biology, or a related discipline. At least one year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).
- Additional Qualifications and Skills: Familiarity with experimental design, buffer and reagent preparation, and basic protein biochemistry. Excellent organizational skills are essential, and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
