About the role

The Antibody Discovery and Accelerated Protein Therapeutics (ADAPT) lab is seeking a Research Assistant II to contribute to research discovering and developing therapeutics for infectious diseases. Our lab employs proteomics, AI/machine learning-driven protein engineering, and directed evolution to advance vaccine antigens, protective antibodies, and other protein therapeutic platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support vaccine development and antibody discovery through LC-MS/MS method development and application.
  • Advance MS-based proteomics through hands-on operation of instrumentation, development and execution of analytical workflows, and collaboration with cross-functional scientists.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts or Science in a related field
  • Experience: Two years’ relevant research or academic experience

Essential Functions

  • People Essential Functions:
    • Maintains positive working relationships with Research stakeholders and customers
    • Actively participates in planning meetings and contributes to decision-making
    • Fosters staff engagement and collaborates with the research team
  • Service Essential Functions:
    • Follows technical instructions in setting up and conducting experiments
    • Utilizes and operates laboratory and/or computer equipment
    • Tabulates inventory and maintains supplies and equipment
    • Collaborates with PI’s and other research members
  • Quality/Safety Essential Functions:
    • Maintains records of all tests performed and data collected
    • Makes minor modifications and/or repairs on laboratory equipment
    • Assists with implementing and educating on department-based safety initiatives
  • Finance Essential Functions:
    • Uses resources efficiently
    • Manages time effectively and prioritizes daily tasks
  • Growth/Innovation Essential Functions:
    • Participates in the development or establishment of new laboratory and/or department procedures
    • Expands learning beyond baseline competencies
    • Completes and updates the individual development plan (IDP)
