Research Analyst
About the role
Harris Beach Murtha’s Knowledge Services team is in search of a Research Analyst to conduct legal, business, and other non-legal research in support of attorneys, professional staff, and clients. The ideal candidate will thrive in this role if they have:
- 1-3 years of experience in legal research in a law firm
- A Bachelor’s Degree (required) and MLS or equivalent degree (preferred)
- Experience with electronic research sources such as Westlaw, CoCounsel, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, Practical Law, VitalLaw and other standard law library applications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CoPilot and SharePoint applications
- Strong attention to detail and curiosity in identifying relevant and creative solutions
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Superior client service and listening skills
Responsibilities
The Research Analyst is responsible for performing in-depth research and analysis, supporting the effective use of research tools and resources, collaborating with practice groups, and participating in training, outreach, and special projects.
- Manage multiple research requests and projects with competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail
- Analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information from a wide range of sources to identify relevant authority, data, and insights
- Apply sound judgment and independent analysis when researching and solving complex information questions
- Collaborate with attorneys, practice groups, and Knowledge Services team members to understand information needs and deliver effective research solutions
- Assist with or develop formal and informal research training for attorneys, professional staff, lateral hires, summer associates, and clients
- Assist with the evaluation and selection of research resources and services
- Participate in special projects and initiatives under the direction of Knowledge Services leadership
Requirements
The Research Analyst must have:
