Reproductive Health Assistant

Responsibilities
- Front Desk
- Performs front desk functions including answering phones and greeting and checking-in patients.
- Verifies patient’s insurance, determines patient payment responsibility at the time of service and posts all charges and payments received at the time of service to the billing system.
- Maintains confidentiality, prepares deposit slips, runs end-of-day reports for delivery of daily deposit to bank as instructed by the Health Center Manager.
- Education
- Conducts patient educational sessions including providing informed consent counseling to ensure that the patient understands and agrees to their medical care.
- Provides clients with accurate information regarding PPGP services, including questions pertaining to contraception, options, and funding sources.
- Laboratory
- Practice proper patient identification, label vials with patient names and dates.
- Determine best method for drawing blood depending on the patient and collect blood samples from patients.
- Prepares laboratory specimens; performs basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposes of contaminated supplies; sterilizes medical instruments; and performs other procedures as requested.
- Complies with health center policy on leaving samples for transportation to laboratory.
- Completes tests according to the Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CLIA) standards and adheres to OSHA regulations when handling biological matter.
- Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
- Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; prepares laboratory specimens; performs basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposes of contaminated supplies; sterilizes medical instruments; and performs other procedures as requested.
- Ultrasound
- Verifies physician orders and procedure to assure accuracy.
- Explains the procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
- Operates all equipment in practice with competence.
- Completes patient scans in a professional and efficient manner.
- Evaluates images in accordance with professional practice standard.
- Participates in quality assurance activities.
- Back Office (FP)
- Sterilizes instruments, gowns, surfaces and other supplies.
- Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
- Operates and maintains Autoclave.
- Conducts daily and weekly spore testing using biological indicators.
- Stocks surgical supplies.
- General Essential Job Functions
- Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in relevant webinars.
- Understands and complies with Child and Minor Abuse identification and reporting.
- Maintains confidentiality of all agency information, employee nonpublic personal information (NPI) and personal health information (PHI), as well as records directly or indirectly identifying any person currently or formerly receiving services from PPGP.
- Complies with regulations regarding patient rights.
- Supports and carries out PPGP’s Mission: upholding the standards of high quality sexual and reproductive healthcare; provides education that promotes informed pride and authenticity in sexuality; influences the culture through advocacy to ensure equality in reproductive and sexual decision making.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays and evenings.
- 1-2 years' experience in a healthcare setting including electronic health records (EHR) experience.
- Prior working knowledge of EPIC (EHR system).
- Program certification i.e. Certified Medical Assistant, Medical Front Office Administration Specialist, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications, phlebotomy technician, certified sonogram technician.
- Prior working knowledge of EPIC (EHR system).
