About the Role

As a STERIS Repair Technician, you will perform stainless surgical instrument inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a field-based setting. You will work out of mobile repair trucks at customer sites and/or regional labs in more condensed markets. This is an entry-level role, and we will provide training. Examples of transferable experience include hands-on repair, assembly, product testing, small engine repair, cell phone/electronics repair/testing/rebuilds, carpentry, circuit board assembly/repair, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, construction, welding, fabrication, and automotive repair.

This role requires daily travel by driving a company vehicle. If offered this position, STERIS will run a 7-year driving record check as part of the onboarding process. An acceptable driving record generally means limited moving violations, accidents, or driving-related convictions. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic-level repair and maintenance of surgical instruments, including ultrasonic cleaning, buffing and polishing, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
  • Provide invoicing, work orders, and daily documentation in accordance with customer reporting and contractual/regulatory requirements, including end-of-day reporting such as the OAR.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) as needed within training and capability level.
  • Adhere to DOT, company, and customer protocols for the safe operation of the on-location repair truck, including vehicle and equipment safety procedures.
  • Abide by all company safety and health policies, use personal protective equipment, and complete safety observations per site requirements.
  • Frequent trips inside hospitals while primarily working inside a mobile repair truck.
  • Provide support to various locations within an assigned territory depending on service agreements, customer needs, and staffing levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience that may include repair, assembly, product testing, or use of small hand tools (or equivalent transferable experience). Examples include carpentry, sterile processing, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, machining, tool and die, mechanical/repair, construction, small engine repair, cell phone/PC/tablet repair, testing and rebuilds, circuit board assembly, fabrication, welding, or automotive repair. All experience must be verifiable.
  • Related certifications in technical or mechanical areas, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may be considered toward the experience requirement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50-100 pounds at times and push instrument rolling carts ranging from 10-150 pounds.
  • Ability to meet flexible schedules with early/late hours, sometimes outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends, based on customer needs.
  • Minimum of 21 years old with the ability to meet FMCSA/DOT and driver’s license requirements.
  • Ability to pass a DOT medical/physical exam, comply with all DOT regulations, and conduct basic box truck safety checks.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. CDL required where applicable.

To support and service customers in this assigned territory, candidates must be based out of North Dakota.

Pay

Pay range for this opportunity is $20-21/hour. This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums if higher than the range listed. Pay rates are based on factors including local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, and foreign language fluency.
