Apply Job Type Full-time Description Wheeler Machinery Co. is hiring a Rental Shop Team Lead at our Sandy, UT location. This is a working team lead position responsible for managing daily rental shop operations and for leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of technicians performing repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on Caterpillar and allied rental equipment. Rental runs on turnaround. Every hour a unit sits is an hour it isn't earning. This role owns the pace of the shop keeping work in progress moving, getting machines back to rent-ready condition quickly, and making sure the fleet is available when customers need it. Duties And Responsibilities Understand and adhere to the personal responsibility of safety, and always work safely Adhere to all company safety programs and policies Maintain a safe shop environment and lead by example safety shares, Tyfoom, proper tooling, PPE, near-miss reporting, and consistently safe behaviors Manage daily rental shop operations, including work assignment, shop flow, and technician schedulingOwn WIP monitor open work orders, remove bottlenecks, and keep units moving from check-in to rent-readyDrive quick-turn performance on inbound rental returns so equipment is back on rent as fast as safely possibleManage job progress and quality, flat rates, accurate and complete service reports, parts, and core return processes through the Daily Management SystemSupport fleet readiness and availability in partnership with the rental and product support teamsReview estimates, and manage workplace maintenance, contamination control, and CPSPerform and oversee all repairs, diagnostics, and general maintenance on rental equipment, minor through majorComplete rental check-in and check-out inspections, identify damage, and scope required repairs accurately.Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems with confidence using schematics.Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports on repair quality, diagnostic approach, and service standardsAssist with performance issues and technician developmentTake ownership of assigned work and hold the team to the same standard Required Qualifications Dealership experience and work history in heavy equipment repairExcellent troubleshooting skills, with confident ability to navigate electrical and hydraulic schematicsExcellent organization and communication skillsGood computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Cat ET and SIS, and related software platformsAbility to work in a high-pressure, fast-turnaround environment and maintain a professional attitudeUnderstanding of the urgency of our industry and what it means to our customers to get equipment back up and runningSelf-starter with ambition, and a professional, positive attitude and appearanceWillingness to promote a teamwork atmosphere and work closely with departments across the companyWillingness to work a flexible shift, extended hours, or weekends as workload requires _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities.
