Rental Prep Technician

About the role

Company Wrench is looking for dedicated, passionate, and career-minded individuals to join our experienced team. As a Rental Prep Technician, you will be responsible for the check-in/out, minor repair, and service of rental and sold equipment and attachments at the highest levels of quality and efficiency. Responsibilities

  • Check in/out rental equipment and take detailed pictures.
  • Perform receiving and delivery reports with detailed notes of existing or new damage.
  • Perform paint touch-up and bodywork on equipment.
  • Power wash, clean, and detail equipment and attachments for rentals and sales.
  • Install attachments (coupler, thumb, shears, processors, etc.) for rentals and sales.
  • Install auxiliary hydraulic kits and cab guards on equipment.
  • Service and minor repair of equipment, components, systems, and attachments.
  • Perform PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on new equipment.
  • Plan methods and sequence of performing assigned duties efficiently.
  • Research and order all parts and materials required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ensure all unused parts and materials are returned per established methods.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace.
  • Operate forklift and heavy equipment.
  • Take inventory of equipment and attachments.

Record Keeping & Compliance

  • Maintain legible records of notes, time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases as needed.
  • Follow all record-keeping methods per established company procedures.
  • Document the 3 C’s (complaint, cause, and correction) for all repairs.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and methods.
  • Maintain and care for all shop tools, equipment, and vehicles in your possession.

Requirements

  • Mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Safe work habits.
  • Ability to start work early and stay late to finish work on a rental item.
  • Working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
  • Two-year diesel engine, heavy truck repair, or heavy equipment technical school certificate OR a minimum of two years of heavy equipment or heavy truck repair experience (preferred).
  • Good attitude, desire to learn, and mechanical mindset (required).
  • Training is to be completed as assigned (virtual and in-person).
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • A minimum of two weeks of in-person manufacturer training annually.
  • Goal of four weeks of training per technician per year.
  • Minimal travel is expected.
