About the role

If you are customer-focused, enjoy a fast-paced environment, and are passionate about supporting the agriculture and construction industry, consider joining the Butler Machinery team as a Rental Counter / Inside Sales Representative.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact for new, walk-in customers - handling the full rental cycle from inquiry to return.
  • Assist outside sales and customers with setting up new accounts, quotations, reservations, attachment/machine selections, contract creation, invoicing and insurance verifications.
  • Identify the customer equipment/resource needs, provide the right solutions, and sell/upsell products and services.
  • Establish new accounts, generate and qualify leads, and warm-call dormant accounts.
  • Negotiate pricing within rate strategy, log lost sales, and coordinate hand-offs to outside sales.
  • Cook up with rental technicians and other departments to schedule equipment delivery, pickup, check-out, and check-in.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment, while providing excellent customer service.
  • Transact all inbound calls and walk-in traffic.
  • Complete call offs, contract returns, and verification of machine hours.
  • Initiate service tickets as required.
  • Cook up with rental maintenance to keep repair states current and prioritize machines as rent-ready based on reservation timelines.
  • Cook up with transportation to coordinate delivery timing and customer expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable showroom.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and welcoming, customer-driven demeanor.
  • Ensure safety procedures are enforced both inside and outside of the rental store.
  • Be guided by Butler’s mission statement and core values in everything you do.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education required.
  • Knowledge of equipment applications and previous rental equipment experience is preferred.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Strong decision-making and adaptability experience.
  • Good time management and ability to multitask.
  • Self-starter and capable of working with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong proficiency in efficiently navigating computer and business applications (sales quoting application, Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Office Products, etc.).
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
