Remote Volunteer Content Strategist — Youth Education & College Readiness
About The Opportunity
Believe in Me is a Washington-based nonprofit supporting children and young people through scholarships, educational programs, community partnerships, and skills-based volunteering. The Content Strategist will guide content for iLevelUP and related college- and career-readiness resources serving students, including first-generation learners.
What You Will Do
- Develop a practical content strategy aligned with student needs and nonprofit goals.
- Plan and maintain an editorial calendar for web, app, email, video, and social content.
- Turn complex education and career-readiness topics into accessible, action-oriented resources.
- Collaborate remotely with program, design, marketing, and technology volunteers.
- Improve discoverability using ethical SEO, answer-focused content, descriptive headings, and clear terminology.
- Review engagement data and recommend improvements.
- Apply inclusive language and accessibility best practices.
Ideal Experience
- Content strategy, editorial planning, copywriting, digital marketing, education, or nonprofit communications.
- Strong writing and editing skills for youth, families, educators, and community partners.
- Familiarity with SEO, content analytics, accessibility, and content-management systems.
- Ability to work independently and communicate reliably in a remote volunteer team.
- Lived or professional experience with first-generation students is welcomed but not required.
Time And Location
Remote and flexible, approximately 2–3 hours per week. Volunteers may participate from anywhere. We ask for a dependable, ongoing commitment so projects can move from planning through publication.
Impact
Your work will help students find understandable, relevant resources about education, careers, scholarships, life skills, and community support. You will also build portfolio-ready nonprofit content-strategy experience.
