Remote Volunteer Back-end Developer — iLevelUP EdTech

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and document APIs and backend services
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, validation, and error handling
• Model and query application data efficiently
• Integrate approved third-party services and internal systems
• Improve performance, observability, reliability, and maintainability
• Write automated tests and participate in code review
• Troubleshoot defects and support releases

Qualifications

• Experience with server-side development and modern application architecture
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages or frameworks
• Familiarity with REST or GraphQL APIs, relational or NoSQL databases, Git, testing, and cloud environments
• Knowledge of secure coding, privacy, and scalable design
• Strong documentation, problem-solving, and remote collaboration skills
• Experience with education technology, accessibility, or nonprofit systems is helpful

Pay

Remote, recurring opportunity is flexible and typically requires up to 10 hours per month.
