What You’ll Do

  • Provide title insurance underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
  • Utilize title insurance underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.
  • Provide guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services.
  • Issue title insurance underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes.
  • Prepare and present educational content (in-person and/or remote) for the benefit of company personnel, agents and/or customers.

Candidate Profile

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school required.
  • Active Bar Admission in Connecticut, in good standing.
  • 5+ years of substantive experience in title insurance underwriting or comparable commercial real estate experience in a law firm setting.
  • Solid understanding of the process of title insurance underwriting real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply title insurance underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of CT real estate transactions, title and settlement processes.
  • Must be familiar with applicable Connecticut real estate law, including federal and state regulations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and externally, with clients and others.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage significant transaction volume, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills, who can deliver guidance with clarity, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, with the ability to assess risk and provide practical solutions.
  • Creative, solution-oriented approach to resolving complex title challenges.
  • Ability to work hybrid 4 days a week office, initially.

  • Compensation & Benefits: Salary range: $130,000 – $215,000+ This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, qualifications, and geographic location.
