Commercial Underwriting Counsel (Remote)

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel and customers regarding the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies
• Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite the issuance of title insurance
• Offer guidance to company personnel in performing real estate settlement services
• Issue underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes

Requirements

• 8-10 years title underwriting experience, with commercial experience preferred
• A Law Degree required and admission to practice law in the state of employment
• License to practice law in good standing
• Familiarity with real estate law
• Strong understanding of real estate title and settlement processes
• Strong analytical skills and business acumen
• Effective negotiation and the ability to provide alternative solutions tactfully
• Collaborative and decisive behavior, building relationships both internally and externally
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong organizational skills, capable of multitasking, prioritizing, and timely follow-up
• Abstract thinking and creative problem-solving abilities

Qualifications

Law Degree required and admitted to practice law in state of employment. Licensed to practice law, in good standing. Must be familiar with real estate law. Strong understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of real estate title and settlement process. Strong analytical rigor and business acumen. Strong negotiation skills and ability to provide alternative solutions or convey unpopular information with tact. Ability to collaborate and act decisively; build relationships internally and externally. Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Pay

$129,300.00 - $172,300.00 Annually
