Responsibilities
- Process biweekly and semimonthly payroll for a multi-state, distributed workforce
- Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, garnishments, and bonuses accurately
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies before each pay cycle
- Register and maintain state tax accounts as the company expands into new states
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and tax withholdings
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure accurate new hire, termination, and status changes
- Prepare and file payroll tax reports and year-end documents including W-2s
- Audit payroll records regularly to ensure data integrity across systems
- Support internal and external payroll audits with organized documentation
Requirements
- 3 or more years of experience processing multi-state payroll
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, or Paylocity
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail under deadline pressure
- Solid understanding of wage and hour laws including FLSA
- Proficiency in Excel for reconciliation and reporting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive employee data with discretion
- FPC or CPP certification is a plus
