Responsibilities
- Provides individual and group interventions to support patients coping with mental health diagnoses, psychosocial stressors, grief, and life transitions.
- Conducts cognitive screening to address functional and cognitive ability questions.
- Collaborates with patients and families to develop appropriate collaborative care and treatment plans for mental health symptoms or behavioral health issues.
- Completes thorough psychosocial assessments and provides a DSM diagnosis to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their families.
- Engages in rapid assessments and develops crisis management plans for emergency/crisis interventions.
- Provides psychotherapy as individual, group, and family interventions when clinically indicated.
- Maintains knowledge of Veteran's benefits and services, and makes appropriate referrals to community and governmental programs or agencies.
- Provides case management services to patients and their families throughout the continuum of care.
- Maintains accurate documentation and completes encounters according to clients' regulations.
Requirements
- Licensure: Must be licensed to practice independently in any state; Psychologist, LPC, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW.
- Education: Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field OR doctoral degree in psychology.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience practicing therapy independently.
- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience providing therapy with veterans and military members; familiarity with DSM5 clinical presentations and evidence-based psychological interventions; knowledge of substance use disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and serious mental illness (SMI).
- Modalities: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (generalist), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Interpersonal Therapy, Problem-Solving Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT), Short-term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure (PE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills training, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).
