Relief Plant Dispatcher - Omaha, NE (Internal Applicants Only)
Position Overview
The Plant Dispatcher is responsible for operating trucks to transport materials and managing schedules and relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Receives calls from customers and guides them through the ordering process.
- Works with the dispatch center to coordinate trucks, schedule, print tickets, and manage deliveries.
- Establishes delivery times based on truck capacities, distances, and fleet availability.
- Maintains communication with the dispatch center and reports plant issues to all personnel.
- Enters orders into the computer and places them at appropriate locations.
- Advises customers on the type of mix to use for specific applications.
- Maintains equipment locations and schedules to ensure efficient service.
- Handles all calls and communications in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and motor vehicle record check.
- Must have and maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement and meet company standards for motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Must have and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate.
- Must adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manuals.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and work away from home when required.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as per OSHA and/or MSHA, Company Policy, and specific Job Site Requirements.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
- Must demonstrate strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Must have basic mathematical skills and the ability to interpret financial data and information.
- Must be able to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds frequently, up to 35 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Able to talk, hear, walk, sit, and occasionally stand, reach, use hands and fingers, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Able to communicate with others by telephone, electronically, and in person.
- Able to utilize a computer for email communication and document preparation.
- Able to work in a variety of weather conditions and in a noisy environment.
