Relief Batch Plant Operator - Omaha, NE (Internal Applicants Only)

Position Overview

The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, as well as for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant to perform duties in conjunction with dispatch loading instructions. This position is a relief position that will cover for the full time position when needed.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Batch concrete loads according to mixed designs and specifications.
• Reads dispatch orders and understands required needs for production of materials.
• Conduct batching operations in an efficient and safe manner while complying with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct batching functions in a professional manner and ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations.
• Must be able to produce on-time & in-spec concrete for the customer. This is a customer focused business.
• Responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment. Performs maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, cleaning, and removing jam-ups.
• Become proficient in necessary batching, dispatching, & quality control software.
• Responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment.
• Maintain time and material records.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
• Education/Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. One to two years of batching-related experience preferred. One to two years of experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred.
• Work Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older. Must pass drug screen and criminal background check. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Must be proficient in use of a computer and ability to learn usage of industry programs. Must be willing to work nights and weekends, when necessary. Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and productions areas as stated by OSHA and MSHA.
• Knowledge/Skill Requirements: Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions. Ability to read and comprehend policies, instructions, site maps, city street maps and other GPS based equipment information. Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail. Ability to communicate, understand and follow in both verbal and written instructions. Demonstrated ability to take guidance and direction from a supervisor.
• Physical Requirements: Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person. Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations. Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to frequently talk, hear, walk, reach use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, and sit as well as occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to climb ladders, inclined walkways, access elevated platforms and to work at heights as well as work in tight quarters. May require sitting for extended periods of time.
