About the role
Vitro of Elkin is seeking a Relief Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should possess strong mechanical aptitude, be proficient in using automation equipment, and be able to work flexible shifts.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently utilize all equipment and personnel for cutting, edging, and drilling glass.
- Make mechanical changes and adjustments to line equipment and operate automation equipment.
- Plan and address daily production needs, including making size checks and performing SPC checks.
- Maintain line cleanliness and accurately report production information.
- Assign and direct personnel during pattern changes and downtime.
- Provide relief for line personnel in emergencies and train new operators.
- Report unsafe equipment and conditions.
- Maintain operations to meet customer, production, and quality department standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- A high degree of mechanical aptitude.
- Pass Select Assessment for Manufacturing test.
- Safe operation of a fork truck with required license.
- Adequate PC skills for computerized systems.
- Motivated, self-driven, and organized personality.
- Willingness to assist in other roles as needed.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic understanding of automation, robotics, and their application to line operation.
Physical Requirements, Safety, and Work Environment
- Work within normal manufacturing environmental conditions, including warm and cold temperatures.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Sit or stand for extended periods.
- Reach, see, hear, and speak.
- Follow security procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
