Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Reliability Systems Engineer – Level 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position requires travel up to 10% of the time and is contingent upon obtaining final clearances and program access within a reasonable period as determined by the company. Continued employment will depend on maintaining the required clearance and program access.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Availability and Timeliness Thread lead, supporting requirements-through-verification “threads” for availability, reliability, and timeliness tasking. This includes performing system reliability and availability modeling, prediction, and analysis; timeliness data collection and analysis; and technical performance metric (TPM) tracking.
• Lead reliability and availability support to the design team through design tradeoffs, requirement allocation, failure rate data collection and estimation, development of technical solutions to reliability and availability problems, and support to design reviews.
• Understand and interpret system and unit architectures, identifying and assessing failure modes and events that cause downtime.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 5+ years of engineering experience, OR
• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline plus 3+ years of engineering experience, OR
• PhD in a STEM discipline plus 1+ year of engineering experience.
• Experience with probability and statistical tools or principles.
• Ability to perform reliability engineering tasks such as reliability modeling, predictions, assessments, failure rate estimation, and availability modeling and analysis.
• Familiarity with interpreting system architecture and functional block diagrams.
• Active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date, OR active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) with ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in an Engineering discipline.
• Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and general satellite design.
• Hands-on reliability analysis and modeling skills for satellites and systems.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation software tools for reliability and availability analysis.
• Experience or exposure to availability modeling and analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and failure rate estimation.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $114,000 – $171,000 per year. The final offer considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
