About the role
Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Systems Engineer – Level 3 or 4 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This role can be filled at either Level 3 Principal Systems Engineer or Level 4 Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. Relocation assistance may be available. This position requires an active SCI clearance or the ability to obtain one, and involves 10% travel.
This position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding, as well as the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access within a reasonable period of time. Continued employment will be subject to maintenance of the required clearance and program access.
Responsibilities
- Work scope covers a range of Systems Engineering disciplines and products including requirements & verification, interfaces, architecture, CAMEO, Model Based Systems Engineering, DOORS administration, and design
- Support development of verification planning/products, test requirements, and other key products
- Assist preparation and execution of milestones
- Collaborate with Space Vehicle Systems Engineering and engage with multiple working groups, key stakeholders, and control boards
- Responsibilities can be tailored based on the skillset and specific experience of the selected candidate
Requirements
For Principal Systems Engineer – Level 3:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience, OR
- Master's degree in STEM discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience, OR
- PhD in STEM discipline with 1+ year of engineering experience
For Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Level 4:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline with 8+ years of engineering experience, OR
- Master's degree in STEM discipline with 6+ years of engineering experience, OR
- PhD in STEM discipline with 4+ years of engineering experience
All candidates must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Have active SCI access at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date, OR
- Have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date, as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding and experience with Model Based Systems Engineering, Cameo Enterprise Architect, and SysML modeling (or equivalent)
- Systems Engineering fundamentals
- Prior spacecraft project experience
- DOORS knowledge & proficiency
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date

Pay
Primary Level (Level 3) Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Secondary Level (Level 4) Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline. Base salary offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
