Release of Information - Health Information Management Manager

Summary

This job is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department and for serving as a daily advocate for the customers served by the HIM department, and for overseeing the coordination of service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of medical record practice, policies and procedures, general medical records maintenance, and knowledge of applicable TJC standards, as well as federal and state laws and regulations.
• The ability to hear and communicate with others in a clear, understandable and professional manner on the phone and in person, as well as demonstration of good written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to interact with peers, executive and medical staff and other customers in an effective manner that positively represents Children's Health System of Texas.
• Evaluates the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies and procedures.
• Recommends new and revised procedures to ensure the proper collection and maintenance of medical information to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
• Manage workflow among all staff to ensure maximum productivity and quality standards are met.
• Prioritizes work to ensure completion of HIM functions.

Requirements

• At least 5 years Supervisory experience, project management, or coding/data integrity required
• Previous HIM and Release of Information experience preferred

Education

• A Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a healthcare profession required

Licenses and Certifications

• Registration as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or comparable certificate required upon hire
