Release Marketing Manager (Music)
AUSTERE is an award-winning creative and marketing agency specializing in music, tech, lifestyle, and fashion. Our clients are primarily artists, and our work focuses on defining their identity and strategically positioning them in front of the right audiences at the right time.
About the role
You will develop the marketing plans behind our artists' releases. This is the most requested service by our clients and the one they are most excited about upon signing. Some artists use our strategy independently, while others rely on us for implementation. Your role is to create the release strategy by analyzing the artist's record, audience, capabilities, and goals, then translating these into a comprehensive release plan.
You will build the strategy deck, write all sections, present it to the client, and handle revisions. This is a client-facing strategy role requiring both depth of expertise and confidence in defending your decisions.
You will create several plans per month across diverse genres and artist stages.
Responsibilities
- Audience and target market strategy: Identify who the record is for, where those people spend their time, and what would make them care.
- Release plan: Determine which songs work as singles, their release order, dates, and key timestamps. Justify your decisions to the artist.
- Social strategy: Define what the artist should do on each platform, tailored to what they can realistically maintain weekly.
- Release content strategy: Develop specific content ideas for each single, including concept, format, and hook—detailed enough for the artist to execute immediately.
- Evergreen content strategy: Plan what the artist posts between campaigns to keep their audience engaged.
- Monetization strategy: Integrate revenue streams like merch, exclusive items, virtual performances, or other relevant opportunities from the outset.
- TikTok Live strategy: Design the format, cadence, and high-converting content for live sessions.
- Fan funnel strategy: Map out how fans engage—via DMs, SMS, email, Patreon, Discord, or Substack—and how to convert that engagement into recurring revenue.
All strategies are delivered as a deck. You own the thinking, writing, presentation, and revisions, while our design team handles the visual execution.
Storia
This role includes a secondary responsibility: auditing and refining AI-generated release plans for Storia, our sister product. Every draft undergoes a human review to correct strategy, sharpen positioning, and ensure it meets our standards. Note that AUSTERE agency plans are built entirely by you without AI, while Storia is a separate product with its own workflow. The agency plans remain the primary focus of this role.
