About the Role

The Release Customs Analyst ensures the timely and accurate processing and release of client shipments in accordance with the organization's procedures and service standards. This role supports compliance with customs regulations and contributes directly to client satisfaction by managing shipment documentation, rating, and release operations within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process shipments accurately and promptly across all transportation modes.
  • Create customs entries by reviewing documentation and selecting appropriate client records, vendors, and tariff codes.
  • Enter shipment data necessary for release, rating, and billing, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Determine correct value for duty based on invoice details and terms of sale.
  • Cooky with import analysts or client service teams for missing shipment information.
  • Verify documentation for release and compliance, including free trade certificates.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), exceptions, and business rules.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to SOPs and exception processes.
  • Respond professionally to call center inquiries related to shipment status.
  • Prioritize work in compliance with client and customs requirements.
  • Escalate release issues to appropriate analysts or supervisors.
  • Support billing and data entry tasks as required.
  • Collaborate with team members in daily release operations.
  • Utilize system automation tools to enhance processing efficiency.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or post-secondary education preferred.
  • Working towards or completion of Certified Customs Specialists (CCS) designation is required for advancement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A client service orientation with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage large volumes and meet tight deadlines.
  • An attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Decision-making within authorized limits.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel.

Pay, Benefits & Perks

  • Pay Range and Compensation Package: Salary range for this position is $16.50 - $25.48 USD per hour, determined by location, skills, experience, and market conditions.
