Security Officer - PM Shift

About the role

The Security Officer provides security for patients, employees, and visitors. They protect hospital buildings, assets, and premises. Responsibilities include patrolling to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders, reporting hazards, controlling parking, securing offices and facilities, monitoring visitor conduct, responding to inquiries, transporting personnel, and participating in investigations.

Responsibilities

• Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
• Reports on safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
• Controls parking and traffic flow in parking areas; enforces parking regulations.
• Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities.
• Secures patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintains logs of items received.
• Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
• Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students and visitors; aids with restraints of patients as needed.
• Transports personnel and equipment in hospital owned vehicles.
• Escorts personnel parking lots and hospital buildings as requested.
• Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Knowledge of conflict resolution and management of aggression.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess customer services skills.
• Possess organizational skills.
• Ability to write reports.
• Ability to read and write English.
