Responsibilities
- Maintains a basic knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and regulatory issues (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Fair Lending, Regulation E, deposit, transaction, and loan accounts).
- Follows proper procedures accurately and efficiently for all customer-servicing activities.
- Retains existing customers and develops new customer relationships.
- Serves as customers' single point of contact for all First United Bank products and services.
- Consistently meets or exceeds performance goals; actively participates in sales campaigns, promotes new products, and educates customers and peers.
- Participates in meetings, bank functions, and customer appreciation/community events as requested.
- Provides excellent customer service by greeting customers, using their name, and building rapport to generate loyalty.
- Identifies and matches customer product needs with bank offerings by interviewing customers and making referrals to other staff or departments.
- Opens new accounts, certificates of deposit, and other ancillary products; answers customer questions and ensures proper paperwork completion.
- Assists customers with routine requests: balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, ACH, automatic funds transfer, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy.
- Processes a variety of transactions (e.g., cash/deposit checks, money orders, savings bonds, traveler’s checks, cashier’s checks, loan payments) with minimal errors according to bank policies.
- Maintains appropriate drawer limits, performs cash verifications, and vault duties.
- Verifies all transactions, places holds as needed, and proves cash drawer at shift end to ensure compliance with bank standards.
- Proactively resolves customer complaints, problems, or issues.
- Reviews and resolves account issues listed in insufficient and exception reports; assists with charge-off repayment plans.
- Performs security functions: opening/closing bank and vault, ensuring overall safety of bank grounds.
- Masters the Primary Purpose and Essential Duties of the Relationship Banker I position.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned, including work in other areas to cover absences or balance workload.
Requirements
- High School Diploma strongly preferred; some college is strongly preferred.
- One year of retail experience is preferred.
- Cash handling experience is preferred.
- Superior customer service skills required.
- Basic mathematics to solve problems.
- Requires precision and high accuracy in daily work.
- Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
- Critical thinking to identify solutions and approaches to problems.
- Ability to multi-task.
