About the role
Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacist provides drug information and assists physicians and nursing staff in providing appropriate drug therapy for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Compounds, prepares, mixes, manufactures and dispenses medicines and preparations. Oversees medications prepared by pharmacy technicians. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, a staff pharmacist may be required to perform the function of pharmacist in charge.
Responsibilities
- Provide drug information and assist physicians and nursing staff in providing appropriate drug therapy for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Compound, prepare, mix, manufacture and dispense medicines and preparations
- Oversee medications prepared by pharmacy technicians
- In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, perform the function of pharmacist in charge as required
Qualifications
- Maintain competency in all aspects of drug therapy including factors related to patients of all age groups
- Knowledgeable of and comply with laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy
- Pyxis experience with knowledge of Pyxis Reports
Experience
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a pharmacist or Health System Residency completed
- Preferred: 1-3 years of hospital experience
Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm D.)
- ASHP Accredited Residency preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Current California Board of Pharmacy - Registered Pharmacist
- Current BLS Certification (AHA) within 30 days of hire
- Current ACLS Certification (AHA) within 30 days of hire
- Current PALS Certification (AHA) within 60 days of hire
Pay
Starting from $65.74 to $98.52 an hour
