About the Role
The University of North Carolina Hospitals and Clinics Department of Pharmacy’s Acute Care Services Team is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide patient care in the emergency department (ED). UNC Hospitals is a Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, state Burn Center, and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke and Chest Pain Center. The ED serves over 70,000 adult and 15,000 pediatric patients annually, with an average daily volume of 240 patients and an admit rate near 30 percent. This role focuses on establishing consistent clinical pharmacy services in the ED.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to adult and pediatric patients in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Serve as the pharmacist responsible for clinical and administrative needs of patients in the ED during overnight shifts.
- Collaborate with existing emergency department pharmacists.
Qualifications
- Designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred.
- Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 residency or equivalent level of pharmacy experience preferred.
- Residency training focused in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care is also preferred.
Schedule
This position follows a rotating weekly schedule: seven consecutive 10-hour shifts, followed by seven days off. The role primarily covers overnight shifts.
