Rehabilitation Technician - Burr Ridge Outpatient Center - Part time

About the role

The Rehabilitation Technician will prepare patients for treatments or evaluations, assist them as necessary to undress and don garments or treatment aids, transfer, move, and ambulate patients to and from departments with a wheelchair or stretcher, assist therapists in direct patient care activities like sensory stimulation, training programs, and gait training, assist therapists during treatment sessions such as exercise and weight training programs, hydrotherapy, and gait training, conduct therapeutic regimens for patients, reinforce learned self-care activities like feeding, dressing, bathing, and memory training, observe patients and report reactions or changes in condition immediately to supervising nurses or therapists, fabricate equipment adaptations for patients, maintain adaptive equipment inventory, perform infection control procedures including disinfecting equipment, maintain clinic areas in a neat and organized manner, perform clerical support tasks including reception duties, file maintenance, document distribution, library maintenance, and retrieval of medical records, clean and maintain SRAlab rental wheelchairs, deliver/store supplies and equipment received from Central Supply, and perform other duties as assigned.

• Performs clerical support tasks
• Cleans and maintains SRAlab rental wheelchairs
• Delivers/stores supplies and equipment received from Central Supply
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education
• One year of experience as a physical therapy aide, occupational therapy aide, or related health care experience (preferred)
• Understanding of the growth and development of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
• Ownership for serving the customer, team, and organization for achieving goals and resolving problems
• Adaptable to changing work demands and environments
• Critical thinking skills and sound judgment to monitor and respond to patient needs or changes in condition
• Ability to transfer and position patients, consistent with lifting up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient care methods, procedures, and techniques
• Ability to anticipate, assess, and address the needs of patients, internal, and external customers
