Essential Functions

  • Affords assistance to the Physical and Occupational Therapist during patient care and treatment planning.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with patients, family members, and other departments.
  • Supports the front office staff as needed.
  • Responds to patient questions and inquiries to enhance patient satisfaction levels.
  • Maintains care and cleanliness of equipment and ensures a safe and clean environment in the clinic as per the “Rehab tech duties list”.
  • Participates in supply inventorying, stocking, and organization of clinic shelves/cabinets.
  • Assists the Lead Rehab Tech with special projects.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Assists all patients on the rehabilitation floor.
  • Contributes to the seamless and efficient operation of the clinic, including daily clinic flow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year experience in an outpatient therapy clinic preferred.
  • Graduation from a technical program or BA in Kinesiology or Exercise Science is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applying exercise as directed by therapists.
  • Understanding of clinic policies, procedures, regulations, safety/infection control, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of how to use therapy equipment.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Skills in applying exercise as directed by therapists.
  • Effective communication with Physical and Occupational Therapists, and front office staff.
  • Proficiency in using a computer system/EMR software.
  • Adequate recognition of patient/clinic dangers and appropriate fall risk patients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to anticipate and recognize needs of the clinic and therapist.
  • Clear communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
  • Resourcefulness to patients and staff.

Environmental/Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment.
  • Some travel within the community.

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Sometimes requires bending, stretching, and manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Occasionally supports patients in transfers.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • Requires kneeling, squatting, and overhead lifting.

Organizational Requirements

  • Read and acknowledge the LOS Employee Handbook.
  • Adhere to the LOS OIG Compliance Program.
  • Comply with OSHA requirements and receive necessary training, including Safety Training.
