About the role

The Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) team of the Human Services Agency (HSA) of San Mateo County is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II. The schedule of this position will vary and may include evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the departments.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct, train and supervise the work of support staff and individuals with emotional and physical disabilities or others with barriers to employment by observing, evaluating and reporting on progress, attendance and employment potential of clients and preparing written evaluations.
  • WorkCenter Skills:
    • Keep records of materials and supplies.
    • Aid in planning work layout and efficient use of equipment.
    • Supervise quality control procedures set up on the production line.
    • Ensure all products/services meet or exceed customer demands.
    • Discuss and make recommendations on material inventory, production status of contract work and need for new equipment.
    • Assist in making time studies to determine piece rates.
    • Identify and notify the Production Manager in advance of material needs.
  • Plan and perform the work involved in receipt, storage, issuance, and delivery of a wide variety of raw and finished goods.
  • Review and control inventory records, issue materials to work floor, check finished goods coming from work floor and arrange for shipping or storage as needed.
  • Maintain, requisition and fill orders; prepare requisitions to maintain adequate stock on hand.
  • Receive stock and check for agreement with purchase order, requisitions, and/or kits lists.
  • Direct and participate in taking periodic physical inventories and check and reconcile physical inventory records.
  • Supervise and monitor the staff and flow of work in/out of the WorkCenter.
  • Serve as back-up to the Production Manager.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Supervise shipping/receiving area, where employees provide training and supervision for the operations of the warehouse that supports the WorkCenter.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Forklift certificate.
  • Ability to operate forklift, vehicles and materials handling equipment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of: Computerized inventory control, electronic counting scales, automated shipping systems. Proper methods of storekeeping, including the maintenance of records of incoming and outgoing supplies. Taking of inventories and proper storage of various supplies. Modern office procedures and practices. Safety principles and methods including rules of first aid. Basic mathematics.
  • Skill/Ability to: Operate forklifts and other materials handling equipment. Maintain records and prepare reports. Instruct, train and supervise subordinate personnel. Perform manual labor duties. Handle emergency situations and work rapidly under pressure. Deal effectively and professionally with a wide range of individuals.

Education and Experience

  • Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I: Experience working with staff involved in product or service delivery operations.
  • Rehabilitation Production Supervisor II: Two years of experience in an industrial production operation or rehabilitation WorkCenter including a supervisory assignment.
