About the role
The Rehab Admissions Supervisor oversees the Admissions Department at Frazier Rehab Institute, part of UofL Health. This position is responsible for managing staff to meet inpatient census goals, ensuring adherence to admission guidelines, and fostering a culture that supports the organization's mission.
Responsibilities
- Supervise clinical and clerical staff, delegating responsibilities as needed.
- Provide clinical supervision for provisionally licensed staff, ensuring compliance with certification and licensure board requirements.
- Create processes to address specific admission situations, such as observation, alternate level of care, long-stay patients, post-acute resource referral lists, re-admissions, denials, and termination of benefits.
- Identify and implement strategies to address identified improvement opportunities within the department and at the hospital level.
- Maintain and promote effective working relationships with medical staff and faculty.
- Hire and maintain appropriate staffing ratios, participating in the development of the department budget.
- Lead orientation and ongoing competency training for the admissions department.
- Collaborate with financial, payer contracting, and access services to support acceptable business practices for billing, collection, patient access, and denials management.
- Develop and implement marketing plans to ensure collaboration with third-party payers and community agencies.
- Ensure excellent customer service and engage, empower, and involve department team members to meet and exceed departmental goals and work culture initiatives.
- Perform staff performance evaluations and provide regular feedback.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct, including HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a clinical healthcare-related field, with a Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of rehabilitation experience, including at least 2 years in a related role such as admissions or business development.
- At least 2 years of experience directing a census/case/utilization management program in a complex matrix organization.
- Kentucky RN license or equivalent for other licensed clinical professionals like PT, OT, SLP, RT.
- A basic life saving (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
