The Role
Manage indirect tax and regulatory compliance activities, including sales and use tax, business licenses, gross receipts, and other state and local filings.
Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, supporting schedules, and related financial reporting for assigned areas.
Support the annual income tax provision process by preparing schedules, reconciling activity, and coordinating with external tax advisors.
Partner with Operations, Billing, Finance, and external advisors to ensure business transactions comply with tax and regulatory requirements.
Maintain effective internal controls and audit-ready documentation for assigned accounting and compliance processes.
Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline tax and compliance processes while documenting updated procedures.
Monitor tax laws, regulatory changes, and industry developments, communicating impacts to management.
Support internal and external audits and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field required
- 3+ years of accounting, tax, compliance, or related experience preferred
- Multi-state tax and regulatory compliance experience preferred
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance activities preferred
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Copilot or other AI), with advanced Excel skills preferred
- Experience with ERP systems and tax software such as Sage Intacct, Avalara, or similar preferred
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and indirect tax concepts preferred
- Able to implement and document processes with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively across teams
- Able to perform prolonged computer work, including typing and viewing computer screens
- Able to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand, bend, kneel, crouch, or alternate positions
- Able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through written communication
