Responsibilities

• Work on-site in the Emergency Department in Rochester, MN, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring quick thinking and adaptability
• Move throughout the Emergency Department to verify patient demographic information, insurance details, emergency contacts, and primary care physician information
• Collect ED copays and other pertinent data
• Welcome patients arriving by ambulance or helicopter, often during challenging moments in their healthcare journey
• Ensure patient safety using positive patient identification protocols and obtain required consents
• Adhere to quality assurance guidelines and productivity standards to support work unit performance expectations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of relevant experience required
• Ability to read and communicate effectively
• Basic computer/keyboarding skills and intermediate mathematic competency
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including proper phone etiquette and handling
• Prior desk, appointment, or secretarial experience preferred
• Working knowledge of scheduling systems and procedures preferred
• Ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Maintain working knowledge of systems and processes related to patient registration and scheduling activities
• Experience using an Epic RC/EMR system preferred
• Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Certification preferred

Pay

$25.38 - $34.27 per hour

Schedule

• Full Time
• 64 hours per pay period
• Business hours: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM with varied start times, working 8-hour shifts
• Weekend schedule: 1 out of every 8 weekends, working 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
