Responsibilities

  • Accurate check-in/admissions/registration of incoming patients in the hospital or ED setting, including in-person, phone, or virtual registrations.
  • Verification of patient demographic information and collection of insurance data.
  • Identification and/or creation of appropriate accounts.
  • Obtaining patient signatures and providing required forms or letters.
  • Acting as an ambassador; assisting patients with self-registration.
  • Collection of indicated co-payments and/or share of cost.
  • Ensuring patient safety using positive patient identification protocols and obtaining appropriate consents.
  • Assisting patients with hospital presumptive eligibility or Medicaid applications.
  • In-person registration requires the ability to physically walk to patients’ locations throughout the emergency department and/or hospital.
  • Adherence to quality assurance guidelines and established productivity standards to support the work unit’s performance expectations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of relevant experience required OR Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer/keyboarding skills, intermediate mathematic competency.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of proper phone etiquette and phone handling skills.
  • Prior desk, appointment, or secretarial experience and a working knowledge of scheduling systems and procedures are preferred.
  • Ability to interact on a professional level with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintain working knowledge of systems and processes related to patient registration and scheduling activities.
  • Experience in using an Epic RC/EMR system is preferred.
  • Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Certification Preferred.

Pay

$25.38 - $34.27 per hour

Schedule

  • Full Time
  • 64 hours per pay period
  • Department hours of operation: 5:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Start times vary.
  • Weekend Schedule: 1-8 weekends (8:00 - 4:30)
