Responsibilities
- Perform vascular ultrasound examinations using diagnostic ultrasound equipment, including: cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vascular studies
- Doppler imaging, waveform analysis, and intracranial exams
- Capture, document, and evaluate high-quality diagnostic images
- Enter preliminary findings and reports into the VA electronic health record (CPRS/VistA)
- Communicate results clearly and professionally with VA providers
- Review consults and assist with appropriate scheduling of vascular studies
- Serve as a liaison between the vascular lab, providers, and patients
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, manage supplies, and perform basic troubleshooting
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, and compliance with VA policies
- Respond to patient and provider inquiries
- Participate in quality improvement activities and staff meetings
- Complete required documentation, including notes for delayed or pending studies
- Adhere to all VA clinical, ethical, and professional standards
Qualifications
- Registered Vascular Sonographer / Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification through CCI
- Active, full, unrestricted license to practice vascular ultrasound in any U.S. state or territory
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing vascular ultrasound studies
- Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and disease processes
- Proficiency with Doppler imaging and advanced vascular exams
- Ability to document and communicate clinical findings accurately
- Fluent in English (read, write, speak)
- Ability to pass VA background checks (NCHC and NACI)
