Job Description

StaffFlex contract, 13 weeks. $69.03/hr + differentials
Part-time (24hrs/week), 7p-7a
Weekend coverage required
NICU Experience Required

Responsibilities

• Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
• Makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
• Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
• Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
• Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
• Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
• Determines or guides the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
• Performs mechanical ventilation.
• Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation.
• Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress.
• Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
• Receives and documents all necessary patient information.
• Completes all necessary documentation and reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required.

Qualifications

• Education Associate
  Field Of Study Must be a graduate of an approved respiratory care program
• Work Experience
  1+ critical care experience [Preferred]

Skills

• [Required] Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
• [Required] State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• [Preferred] Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED)
• [Preferred] S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification
