Respiratory Therapist Contract - Nights - $47.60/hr.
Job Description
Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
Maintains patient safety by monitoring, instructing, and coaching patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
Determines or guides the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation.
Education
- High School Grad or Equiv
- Field Of Study Must be a graduate of an approved respiratory care program
Work Experience
- 1+ critical care experience [Preferred]
Licenses And Certifications
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
- State Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) [Required]
- NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) [Required]
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) [Preferred]
- Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED) [Preferred]
