Registered Respiratory Therapist III

Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Measures lung capacity to identify impaired function. Administers physician-prescribed treatments for patients with breathing abnormalities. Assumes primary responsibility for respiratory care treatments, including oversight of respiratory therapy technicians.

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with pulmonary disorders
• Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine gas levels
• Measure lung capacity to assess impaired function
• Administer treatments prescribed by physicians for breathing abnormalities
• Oversee respiratory care treatments and supervise respiratory therapy technicians

Requirements

• AAS in Respiratory Care from an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Licensed by the Board of Medical Examiners of South Carolina
• 3+ years of work experience in respiratory care
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification

Pay

Hourly pay rate (Health-28 pay grade).

Schedule

36 scheduled weekly hours.
