About the role
Provides routine and advanced respiratory care, manages ventilators, implements cardiorespiratory protocols, and performs advanced airway procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with bronchoscopy procedures
- Monitor patient consciousness, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, and administer conscious sedation agents
- Initiate and coordinate ventilator management, including advanced airway care such as tracheotomy changes, extubation, and intubation
- Operate high-frequency ventilators and deliver Nitric Oxide therapy
- Perform NICU-specific tasks like surfactant delivery, intubation, and high-risk delivery attendance
- Optional roles include transportation, intubation, and acting as backup charge therapist
- Complete other department-specific duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate Degree or Diploma in Respiratory Care, with 2–3 years of college coursework
- Current New Mexico Respiratory Care Practitioner License
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential
- BLS; ACLS/PALS preferred
- Critical care experience preferred
