Patient Care
- Provide direct cardiopulmonary care to patients in assigned area
- Provide patients education and consultation on disease management
Medications
- Administer medications, including IV medications, as ordered by physician via the Five Rights
- Document and communicate clinical findings
Coordination
- Consult with physicians to ensure quality of patient care within area of specialty
Quality
- Assume responsibility for portions of the quality control programs
Equipment
- Care for malfunctioning equipment, develop inventory/stock PAR levels and order supplies
- Maintain adequate stock level
- Develop respiratory instrument trays for each procedure in the specialty area
- Inspect instruments, order instruments, and coordinate instrument repairs as necessary
Education
- Advance clinical knowledge by participation in educational opportunities
- Coordinate in-service training/workshops for appropriate staff
Customer Service
- Ensure customer and patient satisfaction using scripting procedure
Patient Safety
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
Qualifications
- Essential: Associate Degree
- Nonessential: Bachelor's Degree
- Essential: Education specialization: Related Discipline
- Nonessential: Related Discipline
- Essential: 1 year directly related experience
- Nonessential: 2 years directly related experience
- Essential: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification w/in 6 months
- Nonessential: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
- Essential: Respiratory Care Practitioner in NM
- Essential: Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Essential: Expanded Practice Credentials Board Verification for RRT CPFT or ACC or AE-C w/in 1 year of position
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work
