Registered Respiratory Therapist Full Time Night
About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) responsible for a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, including ABG, PFTs, and various forms of ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene therapy, and airway maintenance. The RRT will perform these duties under the indirect supervision of the department’s medical director, following departmental policies and procedures. The role requires proficiency in respiratory assessment and treatment for both adults and neonates, with sensitivity to the diverse needs of patients based on age, sex, race, and culture.
Responsibilities
- Performs respiratory therapeutics, including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR, and mechanical ventilation.
- Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures, such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
- Prepares treatment evaluations, including bedside respiratory physical assessments, patient interviews, and reviews of patient medical records.
- Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT results using critical thinking skills.
- Assembles, checks, operates, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment, including artificial airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers, oxygen delivery devices, and blood gas analyzers.
- Participates in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
- Utilizes appropriate customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
- Performs other job duties as required.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications—must obtain within 1 year of hire.
- Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- At least 6 months of respiratory care experience.
Schedule
36 hours per week, night shift (12-hour shifts, 3 nights per week), Monday through Friday with rotating weekends.
