Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas, with 227 beds specializing in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology.
Knapp serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery. With over 60 years of service, Knapp employs more than 450 people and has over 300 physicians on its medical staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the provider.
- Assess, plan, implement, and document care with consideration of age and population-specific needs.
- Serve as Lead RCP on occasion, overseeing the section or department during assigned shifts.
Qualifications
- Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA or ARC upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate preferred.
- Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of acute care experience preferred.
