About the role

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center and premier tertiary-care destination in the West Valley, is seeking a full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to deliver night-shift respiratory care across adult and pediatric services. The role includes managing mechanical ventilation, performing diagnostic testing, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Night-shift differentials apply, and a recruiter will discuss a potential hire-on incentive during the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Independently provide respiratory care, pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing to patients in a variety of health care settings.
  • Perform all basic modalities of respiratory care as prescribed by physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Apply and manage mechanical ventilators in collaboration with physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners, recommending adjustments to improve clinical condition, patient comfort, and weaning.
  • Assemble, disassemble, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, clean, and adjust durable medical equipment and circuitry used in respiratory care.
  • Perform patient assessments and evaluate response to care, recommending modifications to therapy as clinical condition changes.
  • Document therapy accurately and completely in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and collaborate with resource staff to formulate care plans, recommend therapy changes, and resolve problems.
  • May supervise department staff and be assigned to different areas system-wide where respiratory care is needed.

Requirements

  • Associate or technical degree.
  • Proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • RRT required for all new hires after October 1, 2015; incumbents must possess RRT by October 1, 2017.
  • Current license in the state practiced as required by state law.
  • In Nevada, all incumbents must have Blood Gas Technologist certification.
  • Banner Registry positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting, including within the past 12 months as an RRT in the specialty area.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
