About the Role
The Registered Polysomnographer I administers sleep studies to diagnose sleep disorders, performs patient assessments, and scores sleep records under physician supervision.
Responsibilities
- Implement patient safety interventions, including CPAP, oxygen, and therapeutic actions.
- Verify data integrity, calibrate equipment, and guide patients through procedures.
- Score sleep stages and clinical events following AASM guidelines, generating accurate reports.
- Maintain safety standards, perform equipment care, and evaluate inventory.
- Communicate effectively with patients, respond to inquiries, and document findings.
- Attach electrodes, monitor studies, and manage therapies like CPAP titration and oxygen therapy.
- Assess patient needs based on medical/social history, adjust testing parameters, and explain procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a polysomnography program from a licensed or accredited institution.
- Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician by the BRPT.
- Experience preferred; ability to work night shifts.
