Registered Occupational Therapist (OT)

About the role

The OT - Occupational Therapist position at Life Care Centers of America involves providing direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral. This role operates within the framework of applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Responsibilities

• Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
• Liaises with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs
• Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Demonstrates good body mechanics at all times
• Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility
• Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
• Performs proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
• Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
• Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
• Follows occupational treatment plans for patients (i.e., activities of daily living)
• Establishes, assesses, and modifies realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals
• Oversees and evaluates care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students
• Charts appropriately and timely
• Utilizes therapy software appropriately and accurately
• Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
• Affords assistance in the evacuation of patients
• Displays dependable, regular attendance
• Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment
• Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team
• Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours

Requirements

• Broadcasting of NBCOT certification upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward
• Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT)
• Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
• One (1) year experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply
• CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT)
• Licensure: Currently registered/licensed in applicable State
• Experience: One (1) year experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply
