About the role

The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, provide and assist in the evaluation of total patient care in collaboration with providers.
  • Provide and coordinate competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Perform duties associated with direct patient care and quality assurance activities.
  • Assure completeness of ordered procedures and treatments.
  • Instruct patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs.
  • Ensure medical orders are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform duties associated with symptom management and direct in-clinic patient care and/or telehealth patient care and quality improvement activities.
  • Adhere to the ANA scope and Standards of professional nursing and the code of ethics for nurses with interpretive statements.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Associate of Nursing (ASN).
  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.

Qualifications

  • Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area.
  • Familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
  • Awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
