REGISTERED NURSE: University Hospital (Dual Unit-7W Adult BMT/8E Adult Surgical Telemetry Unit)

About the Role

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) working within the 7W and 8E acute care units at Michigan Medicine. 7W specializes in adult hematology/oncology patients, including bone marrow and blood stem cell transplant (BMT), leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, aplastic anemia, and immune and genetic diseases. 8E focuses on adult medicine hematology patients, covering similar conditions such as blood cancers and diseases. The 7W/8E team delivers world-class care using a collaborative approach, and the BMT program is one of the largest in the country, renowned for research aimed at making transplants safer and more effective.

Nurses in this role will work between the 7W and 8E units, which operate as a single nursing team. The unit is equipped with telemetry capabilities to provide the highest level of care for this patient population. All nurses receive hospital-based training, including competency check-offs for BMT administration, cell therapy administration, chemotherapy administration, and EKG interpretation.

The unit is located in the state-of-the-art C.S. Mott Children's and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital. Michigan Medicine is a Magnet-recognized hospital and has recently been named the #1 hospital in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Provide acute care for adult hematology/oncology patients, including those undergoing bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants, as well as patients with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, aplastic anemia, and immune or genetic diseases.
• Work collaboratively within a team-based care model to deliver world-class care to patients and their families.
• Administer BMT, cell therapy, and chemotherapy, with competency verified through hospital-based training and check-offs.
• Interpret EKG results as part of patient monitoring and care.
• Utilize telemetry capabilities to monitor and provide high-level care for patients.
• Float to designated units during periods of low census, as required.

Requirements

• Current Michigan RN license for candidates who have passed the NCLEX. Graduate Nurses (GN) may be considered but must pass the NCLEX prior to the start date.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Must meet all required qualifications by the start date of employment.
• Desired:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Two to five (2-5) years of oncology experience.
  • Two to five (2-5) years of surgical post-op experience.
  • Recent telemetry experience.

Pay

• Hourly range for Registered Nurses: $41.78 - $64.81 per hour.
• Shift differentials:
  • Evening Shift: +$3.00 per hour.
  • Night Shift: +$4.00 per hour.
  • Day Shift Weekend: +$2.90 per hour.
  • Evening Shift Weekend: +$5.90 per hour.
  • Night Shift Weekend: +$6.90 per hour.
  • Charge Nurse: +$1.00 per hour.
• This position is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C. Actual level and salary will be determined at the time of hire, with levels ranging from A to F.

Schedule

• Hours: 36 hours per week.
• Weekends: 2 out of every 4 weekends per schedule.
• Shifts: Nights, consisting of a combination of 8 and 12-hour shifts.
