Registered Nurse- System Float Med/Surg – Nights

General Summary

Under general supervision, demonstrates ability to handle nursing problems and, in general, an expanded group of nursing practices. Performs nursing intervention across a variety of nursing situations. Identifies patient problems prior to explicit changes in patient-specific data collection (such as vital signs).

The department provides staffing support for various roles including Registered Nurses, Surgical Technologists, Emergency Room Technicians, Medical Assistants, and Patient Care Technicians.

Responsibilities

• Select 1 zone to work plus 1 additional hospital outside of the zone (total of 5 hospital locations).
• Perform nursing intervention across a variety of nursing situations.
• Identify patient problems prior to explicit changes in patient-specific data collection (such as vital signs).
• Work under general supervision.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Two years of related clinical nursing experience in the area of interest and a demonstrated level of performance and practice required.
• Willingness to float to multiple locations.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Qualifications

• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS. ACLS, NRP, and EFM where required.
• TB, vaccines (i.e. flu).

Skills

• Ability to identify patient problems.
• Knowledge of nursing practices.
• Effective communication skills.
