About the role
Registered Nurse Supervisor 2 (Regional Medical Unit) responsible for establishing standards for nursing practice to meet requirements of accrediting agencies and providing direct supervision and administrative direction to clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Establish and implement an organizational plan to accomplish objectives.
- Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate all activities of nursing personnel in areas of organizational responsibility.
- Establish professional role expectations based on research findings, health care trends, appropriate legal standards, and professional organizations.
- Develop and promote clinical practice/performance in behaviors identified by professional role expectations.
- Develop and promote the managerial development of Registered Nurse Supervisors 1 within their respective areas.
- Select, hire, orient, and supervise Registered Nurse Supervisors 1 with emphasis on decentralization.
- Evaluate and provide feedback through performance evaluations, planned meetings, and informal discussions.
- Identify the individual and collective needs of nursing staff to optimize professional performance.
- Establish and monitor staffing patterns to assure safe, high-level individual care.
- Determine and justify the need for staffing, material, and environmental resources to deliver high-quality patient care for existing and proposed programs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor risk reduction measures.
- Participate in the organizational Quality Assurance Program to ensure high-level individual practices.
- Provide overall direction for Quality Assurance within nursing areas of clinical responsibility.
- Monitor problem reporting and resolution based on nursing quality assurance.
- Collaborate with others in monitoring interdisciplinary individual care practices.
- Develop and implement organizational and community programs and policies consistent with accepted standards for health care management and delivery.
Requirements
- A license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- One of the following:
- One year of permanent service as a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1; OR
- One year of permanent service as a Registered Nurse 3 (Infection Control) or Registered Nurse 3 (Correctional Services); OR
- Two years of permanent service as a Registered Nurse 2 (Utilization).
Pay
$93,659 - $118,388/year
