Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor (RN) - ICU

About the Role

This position is part of the departmental leadership team that provides clinical supervision on a shift basis, including:

• Coordination and assignment of patient care
• Functioning as a unit patient flow coordinator, facilitating admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Coordinating unit staffing for the next shift with the Director/Clinical Manager, Coordinator, and/or House Officer
• Serving as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for the staff
• Providing supervisory input into department staff evaluations and performance reviews

Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing or advanced degree in a related field
• Minimum Experience: 1 year in an equivalent unit
• Preferred Experience: 4 years in an equivalent unit
• Required Certifications/Licensure: Possession of a current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
• Preferred Certifications/Licensure: National Specialty Certification

Required courses/completions:

• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire
• ACLS/TNCC, PALS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E., Fetal Monitoring, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are required depending on the department hired (see applicable STAFF RN job description for requirements and grace periods)
• ENPC preferred in the Emergency Department
